Welcome to the Early Open House....

Welcome to The Early Open House... This is a blog dedicated to a merry band of Brighton-based artists, who regularly hold Open Houses, and who have decided to open up earlier than the rest of them, this Christmas...
You'll be able to see a lot of the work from the house on this blog...and possibly some goings-on that are not usually on view!
We'll try and give you an insight into the hectic few weeks which lead up to an Open House opening its doors, and diary-ish updates too... as we go along.
Today, is the first meeting of all the artists, where, at 202 Ditchling Road, they all drink wine, chat....oh, yes, and look at wall-space and bring images 'round for flyers and articles etc...

The artists involved are Polly Raynes' beautiful watercolour, pastel and acrylic landscapes, Emma Herian's Stunning corsages, bunnies and textile treats, Holly Bell's simple, pure and emminently functional ceramics, Philippa Stanton's atmospheric and passionate acrylics on canvas, Annie McMullen's almost edible tumbled resin and fused glass jewellery, Alex Mercer Rees' sumptious silk and felt scarves, Chris Brooks' fabulous metal fish, foliage and garden sculpture, Linda Kemp's serenely cosy felt cushions, and Lauren Brooks' daintily worked shell and cultered pearl jewellery.

202 Ditchling Road is also renowned for fantastic complimentary mulled wine on arrival, so a couple of us thought we should just have a go at practising the method of making it...and also drinking it!
In fact these two experimenters may be familiar to some as 5ftInf and sewrecycled...yes, they are renowned for their fantastic 'tasting' skills...and of course their textiles and fine art!!!
In the pan...

in the glass...

...and still standing!

So...as this is early days for The Early Open House, there are just some examples here of some of the artists work...which will probably be on display...but you know what artists are like...they change their minds at the last minute; unstitch things and paint over canvases and stuff, so if you do like anything you see, please let us know!
